Al Madina Institute was founded in 2009 with a clear vision, to build a masjid and community space that serves both faith and society. The idea began when Maulana Nabeel Afzal laid the foundation for what would grow into a strong and active community hub.

Maulana Nabeel Afzal developed a deep connection with Islam from an early age. His upbringing in a religious family, especially the influence of his pious grandfather, played a key role in shaping his path and commitment to serving the community.

After completing his studies, Maulana Nabeel Afzal established Coventry’s first youth led Al Madina Centre in September 2009. The centre quickly gained attention for its positive impact and meaningful activities, attracting people from across the local area.

Among its many milestones, Al Madina Institute is proud to have revived the Mawlid Procession in Coventry, bringing back a cherished tradition after a gap of 16 years.

Today, Al Madina Institute operates from a purpose built facility spanning 16,000 square feet. The institute includes multiple classrooms, a library, kitchen facilities, a mortuary, a dedicated and separate space for women, and a fully equipped live streaming studio. All of this supports our mission to educate, unite, and serve the community with sincerity and care.
